The practical agreement for using Prometheus: what the app offers, how membership works and how to leave.
These terms preserve your UK consumer rights. Read the purchase screen before agreeing to any paid membership.
Who these terms are for
These terms cover the Prometheus Project website, waitlist and coaching app, operated by Adam Ball (“we” or “us”). You must be 18 or over to use them. For questions, email support@prometheusproject.cc to reach Adam Ball.
Joining the waitlist is free and does not buy membership or guarantee an invitation or launch date.
The app and your account
Prometheus helps you think through your vision, goals, habits and reviews using text or voice coaching. Prometheus is still being developed: features may change, fail or become temporarily unavailable. Keep a copy of anything important. This does not remove your statutory rights or our duty to use reasonable care and skill.
Keep your sign-in details private, give accurate account information and tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for your own use, but not for losses caused by our failure to meet our legal obligations.
We may make reasonable technical or safety changes. For a material reduction to paid features, we will give reasonable advance notice where possible and explain cancellation and any refund due. We will not use the app’s early stage to avoid consumer law.
Coaching, not therapy
Prometheus is a coaching and reflection tool. It is not therapy, medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and does not replace a qualified health professional. It also does not provide regulated financial or legal advice. AI can misunderstand you or give inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable suggestions; check information before acting. We cannot guarantee a particular personal outcome.
Duty-of-care features include crisis-risk detection and signposting, but can miss risk. Conversations are not continuously monitored by a person. Prometheus is not an emergency service and does not guarantee contacting emergency services on your behalf.
Coaching, not therapy or medical advice. If you are in immediate danger, call 999. For support in the UK, call Samaritans on 116 123, text SHOUT to 85258, or call NHS 111 for urgent health advice. Do not wait for a response from Prometheus.
Membership and payments
Membership is £29.99/month with a 7-day free trial, or £249.99/year. Subscribe in the iPhone app. Prometheus is invite-only on iPhone for now: join the waitlist and Adam sends invitations as places open. The first 100 paying members get founding pricing: members 1–10 pay £14.99/month; 11–100 pay £24.99/month. Members 101+ pay £29.99/month. The founding annual option is £199.99/year. Your price is held for 12 months from your first paid month while you stay subscribed. Check the App Store purchase screen for taxes, eligibility, billing interval and included allowances before agreeing to pay.
Apple charges your Apple account for in-app purchases. RevenueCat verifies your entitlement. Memberships renew automatically unless cancelled in App Store settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal time shown by Apple. Monthly membership includes a 7-day free trial where eligible; cancel before its end to avoid the next charge. Usage allowances are shown before purchase and in the app.
Joining the website waitlist is free. Membership and optional voice credits are purchased in the iPhone app through the App Store. This website has no checkout and joining its waitlist does not authorise a charge.
Any price change must be notified in advance and follow the platform’s rules and applicable consumer law, with an opportunity to cancel before it applies.
Cancellation, cooling-off and refunds
Apple purchases: open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Prometheus to manage or cancel. Request refunds through Apple’s refund service. email support@prometheusproject.cc to reach Adam Ball if you need help. Cancelling renewal normally leaves access until the paid period ends; deleting the app or account does not cancel billing.
UK consumers have a 14-day cooling-off right for eligible distance contracts, normally starting when the contract is made. This applies to qualifying purchases subject to the legal rules for services and digital content. Apple administers requests for purchases it bills; this does not remove your statutory rights. Tell the relevant seller clearly that you want to cancel within that period.
If you expressly request a service to start during the cooling-off period, a proportionate charge for service already supplied may be lawful where the required information was given. The right is lost for a fully performed service only with the required express request and acknowledgement. For digital content, loss of the right requires express consent to immediate supply, acknowledgement of losing the right, and the required confirmation. Simply joining a waitlist, using the free parts of the app or accepting these terms does not waive it.
Where a cooling-off refund is due from us, we will make it within 14 days of being told of cancellation, to the original payment method, subject only to lawful deductions. Outside cooling-off, there is no automatic refund for an unused part of a correctly supplied billing period, but faulty or misdescribed services and other statutory refund rights still apply. We do not impose a blanket “no refunds” rule.
To cancel a qualifying contract, send a clear statement that you wish to cancel. Include your name, the service purchased and the date of purchase. Follow Apple’s process for purchases billed by Apple; do not send payment details or private coaching history.
Use Prometheus fairly
Do not use the service to break the law, harm or harass others, upload unlawful material, impersonate someone, gain unauthorised access, distribute malware, evade payment or safety limits, or overload the service with automated requests. Do not share someone else’s sensitive information without a lawful reason.
You may discuss difficult emotions and ask for help. Honest disclosure of distress is not a breach of these terms. We may limit unsafe functionality or suspend misuse where necessary and proportionate. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and let you challenge a mistake by emailing support@prometheusproject.cc. Immediate restrictions may be necessary for security or serious harm.
Restrictions on copying or reverse engineering apply only to the extent permitted by law. Nothing here prevents activity that consumer or software law expressly permits.
Your content and privacy
You retain rights in the content you submit. You give us only the permission needed to store, process and transmit it to deliver your requested features, including through our service providers. This is not permission to use private coaching for advertising.
Our code, branding and original service materials remain ours or our licensors’. We give you a personal right to use the service under these terms. We do not guarantee AI output is unique or accurate.
The Privacy Policy explains processing under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, processors, retention, international transfers and your rights to access, correct, export, erase, restrict or object, withdraw consent and complain to the ICO. The Privacy Policy also explains website analytics and browser storage choices under PECR. Contract acceptance is not consent to optional analytics or special category health-data processing.
Coaching can contain health or mental-health data. Separate explicit consent under Article 9 is required for that use; the Privacy Policy explains this choice. Do not submit health details until that consent is in place. Email support@prometheusproject.cc for export or deletion; withdrawing consent must stop the relevant future processing.
Service providers and data requests
These services support Prometheus. The information each receives depends on the features you use. Coaching uses cloud processing; it does not stay only on your iPhone.
- Supabase (EU): account authentication, database and cloud storage for account details, coaching history and app activity.
- OpenAI: relevant coaching context, messages, audio and transcripts for AI responses, live voice and transcription, through the Prometheus relay.
- Azure Speech: text and audio for speech features where used.
- RevenueCat: purchase identifiers and subscription status to manage membership access.
- Apple: App Store purchases, billing and refunds. Apple handles payment information under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Sentry: crash reports, device information and diagnostics where error reporting is enabled.
- PostHog: optional website analytics after consent, where configured.
- Google Analytics: optional website pageviews after the same analytics consent, where configured.
- Resend: email addresses, waitlist source and signup preferences for invitations and product notes, plus recipient details and message content for transactional emails.
- Fly.io: hosting for the app’s relay, processing requests and technical logs needed to deliver coaching.
- Vercel: website hosting, including connection details and technical logs needed to serve pages and requests.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: browser and connection information for spam and abuse checks where enabled, under Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Service providers may process information outside the UK. We do not promise that all processing stays in the EU or that providers immediately delete all audio. See the sections on retention and international transfers in the privacy policy.
Our UK GDPR bases are contract (Article 6(1)(b)) for accounts, coaching and subscription delivery; consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for marketing and optional analytics; legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for proportionate security, anti-bot checks and reliability; and legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) for required records. Health-data processing also requires separate explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a). Accepting these terms does not supply that consent.
Information is retained for the purpose described or to meet a legal obligation. Retention varies by record and provider, including backups; ask us for the period that applies to your information. The retention section of the Privacy Policy explains account records, voice data and browser storage.
Use account deletion in app Settings. For deletion or a reusable export of account and coaching information, email support@prometheusproject.cc to reach Adam Ball and ask to delete or export your data. Do not send passwords, card details or coaching history by email. We may verify identity and arrange secure delivery; we normally respond within one month, with lawful extensions explained within that month. Deletion does not cancel App Store billing or erase records we must legally retain. The Privacy Policy explains all rights and the ICO complaint route.
Our responsibilities and liability
We must provide paid services with reasonable care and skill and digital content as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for any purpose agreed with you, where those consumer protections apply. You retain remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable law, including repeat performance, repair, price reduction or refunds where required.
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing here limits statutory consumer rights.
The service is for personal use. To the extent the law permits, we are not responsible for business losses such as lost business profits, or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed. We do not apply a fixed financial cap to override your consumer rights.
Ending the service and changes
You may stop using Prometheus, cancel renewal and request account deletion. These are separate steps. If we discontinue a paid service, we will give reasonable notice where possible and refund prepaid amounts for service we do not provide, together with any further remedy required by law.
We will explain material changes in advance where practicable. Changes will not retrospectively remove rights or change an agreed paid period unfairly. Where agreement is legally required, we will ask for it; you can cancel before a future change takes effect.
Law, complaints and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales. Courts in England & Wales may hear disputes; consumers living elsewhere in the UK may also bring proceedings in their home courts and keep any mandatory protections of their home law.
For questions, complaints, cancellation or privacy requests, email support@prometheusproject.cc to reach Adam Ball. We will try to resolve complaints fairly.
